The Trèsfit Girl Guide
The things nobody explains when you first walk into a gym, plus routines that stick.
Gym confidence
Nobody is watching as closely as you think
Most people are focused on their own session, their own playlist and their own reflection. Walk in like you belong, because you do.
Decide the session before you arrive
Walking in with a plan, even a three-exercise one, removes the wandering-around feeling that makes new gyms intimidating.
Ask the floor staff
Showing you how a machine works is literally part of their job. One question saves ten awkward minutes.
Beginner basics
Warm up, always
Five minutes of easy movement prepares joints and muscles and makes the whole session feel better.
Form first, weight later
Learn the movement with light weight. Add load only when every rep looks the same.
Rest days are part of training
Muscles adapt while you recover. Sleep, water and food are not optional extras.
Etiquette
Re-rack your weights
Put plates and dumbbells back where they live. It is the single most appreciated gym habit.
Wipe down after use
Carry a small towel. Wipe benches and handles when you finish.
Ask to work in
If someone is on equipment you need, ask to alternate sets. Most people say yes.
Building a routine
Start with two days a week
Two sessions you actually do beat five you plan and skip. Add a third once two feels automatic.
Anchor it to something fixed
Right after work, before Sunday service, after dropping the kids. A fixed anchor beats willpower.
Pack the night before
Bag by the door, bottle filled, Trèsfit set laid out. Remove every small reason to skip.
